Contestant Guidelines:

Welcome to the 2023 Miss Immigrant USA Organization Activity Pageant.

We recognize that you are a professional, and don’t need these this guideline, but in the event that some questions or situations arise – here we provide a set of guidelines to take into consideration.

Table of Contents

1. Understanding the Structure and the Operations of Miss Immigrant Organization.

We would like to take a moment to clarify the operations and the integral role each one of you plays in the functioning of the Miss Immigrant (MI) Organization. Our thriving entity is, at its heart, a collective endeavor.

MI is gracefully propelled forward by a confluence of efforts from you, our dedicated contestants who bring talent, passion, and diversity, and our generous funders whose support enables us to deliver on our commitments. It is this unique collaborative structure that sets us apart and allows us to operate successfully, even in the absence of a traditional funding model.

We believe it is equally important to clarify that as of now, MI does not engage in any commercial activities or merchandise sales. Our focus remains steadfast on our mission and the empowering platform we are working to build.

Your understanding, participation, and support continue to be pivotal to our journey, and we cannot thank you enough for that.

2. Mission and Goals:

Miss Immigrant Organization’s goal is to embolden, empower and raise the glory of immigrants and to strengthen unity within diverse communities. Together, we show support through community engagements with honesty, integrity, and trust.

3. MIO is Not a Political Organization:

As Miss Immigrant USA is apolitical platform celebrating diversity, we kindly ask that you refrain from making political statements or social media posts or attending political fundraising events while representing MIO.

Before attending any kind of event on your own as a Miss Immigrant USA representative, please share the event details (date, location, scope) with us for consent.

4. Apologies:

Firstly, we want to extend our sincerest gratitude for your dedication and resilience in this journey with the Miss Immigrant Organization. As you continue to grow as an influencer within our community, we acknowledge that this path, though rewarding, comes with its unique challenges.

In this age of digital connection, your engagement with various online platforms broadens your reach, offering limitless opportunities. However, we understand that this visibility can sometimes invite a diverse array of interactions, not all of which may align with your or our organization’s objectives.

Please be mindful that with the expansion of your social influence, you may be approached with various proposals – some offering opportunities, others seeking donations, and yet others may simply wish to share their views, both favorable and unfavorable, about our organization. We truly appreciate your resilience in navigating these varied circumstances. Remember, each of these experiences contributes to your growth as a leader and influencer.

We regret any discomfort or undue stress that these situations may cause you, and we sincerely apologize for any challenges you may encounter in this process. It’s important to note, however, that these are common occurrences in the realm of public influence and are integral parts of your learning experience.

We are confident in your ability to handle these situations with grace and maturity. Be reassured that you’re not alone in this journey – we are here to support you. Should you ever require guidance or assistance, do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Your courage to embrace both the bright and shadowed sides of this role is commendable. We believe in your strength and capacity to manage these complexities and continue to inspire others.

8. Guidance on Sash Care and Maintenance:

Your sash is not just a piece of fabric; it is a symbol of your association with Miss Immigrant USA, your achievements, and the journey you’ve embarked upon. To ensure its longevity and maintain its pristine condition, we would like to share some guidelines on proper sash care and maintenance:

  1. Storage: When not in use, store your sash flat in a clean, dry place to prevent wrinkles and damage or rolled as received the first day. Avoid folding by itself if possible.

  1. Cleaning: Do not put the sash in a washing machine or dry cleaning. If you decide to wash it at home, gently hand wash using a mild soap. Do not wring it; instead, pat it with a towel to remove excess water and then air dry it.

  1. Ironing: If your sash becomes wrinkled, iron it on a low setting and always use a press cloth to prevent direct contact between the iron and the sash.

  1. Wearing: Always handle your sash with clean hands to avoid transferring dirt, oils or makeup. When wearing it, make sure it sits comfortably on your shoulder and isn’t rubbing against any sharp objects or accessories that could potentially damage it.

  1. Travel: If you’re traveling with your sash, consider using a protective cover or case. This will help prevent it from getting dirty or wrinkled in transit.

  1. Damage/Lost: If any damage happens to the sash inform us about it. Replacement cost $30.

  1. How to wear it during events: The sash should be hanging on your right shoulder, use the safety pins to attach it to your clothing so the sash doesn’t slides from your shoulder.

Treating your sash with care will keep it looking its best and uphold the respect associated with it. It is a significant part of your Miss Immigrant USA experience, so we trust you will handle it with the care it deserves.

9. Dress Code Guidelines:

As part of the Miss Immigrant USA journey, our dress code is designed to ensure that we maintain a professional and respectful environment while celebrating our diverse cultures and backgrounds.

One of the highlights of Miss Immigrant USA is the opportunity to honor and celebrate our rich heritage. To that end, we highly encourage the incorporation of ethnic clothing or accessories into your outfits. This can be a beautiful way to represent and showcase your culture and country of heritage, and to share that pride with our diverse community.

Remember, your attire is not just about the clothing you wear, but an expression of your identity, respect for others, and the pride you carry for your cultural heritage. We look forward to seeing your unique styles and representations.

10. Judges and Social Media:

As part of our judging process for Miss Immigrant USA, our panel of judges will be following your journey from the day of the opening ceremony until October 15th, 2023. This is an opportunity for the judges to get to know you better and understand your unique narrative, values, and contributions.

In order to ensure the judges have full access to your shared experiences, updates, and posts, we kindly request that you make necessary changes to your social media privacy settings.

  • Instagram: Please make your profile public. This can be done by going to your profile, tapping on the three-line menu on the top right, selecting “Settings,” choosing “Privacy,” and turning off the “Private Account” setting.
  • Facebook: Please make your posts public. When posting an update, click on the button next to the “Post” button to select who can see your post. Choose “Public” from this list.

Please remember that maintaining a positive, respectful, and professional online presence is part of our social media guidelines. We trust you to continue adhering to these principles while showcasing your journey.

11. Open Invitation for Constructive Feedback and Cooperation

Miss Immigrant USA was born from a vision of empowerment and positive change within the immigrant community. Like any new initiative, our journey is one of continuous learning and growth. We recognize and accept that we may make mistakes along the way, understanding that these are opportunities for us to evolve.

In this spirit, we warmly invite you to share your observations, suggestions, or concerns openly with us. Your feedback is invaluable in aiding our growth and improving our efforts. Instead of discussing any perceived shortcomings in private, we would greatly appreciate it if these are brought directly to our attention. This openness allows us to address the issues effectively, learn from them, and take steps toward becoming a better and stronger community.

Please remember, Miss Immigrant USA is not just an organization; it’s a shared mission that we’re building and growing together. Your perspectives, experiences, and insights are integral to shaping our path forward.

12. A Gentle Reminder of the Spirit of our Competition

As part of Miss Immigrant USA, we are not just competitors, but also part of a larger community committed to a common purpose. We understand that competition can stir various emotions, but it is vital to remember the real essence of our journey together.

This is not a contest marked by fierce rivalry, but a platform where respect, love, and support for each other should take precedence. Our competition is rooted in goodwill and is aimed at fostering positive changes in our immigrant community. Winning is not about outdoing each other but about representing and uplifting our shared mission.

In previous years, we’ve noticed that some contestants have found the competitive aspect challenging. We sincerely wish for this experience to be empowering, uplifting, and joyful for you. Please remember, every one of you is already making a significant impact just by being a part of Miss Immigrant USA.

Let’s continue to support each other, cherish the experiences we share, and make the most of this extraordinary journey together.
