"Courage doesn't always roar; sometimes, it's the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, 'I will try again tomorrow.'"

About Magdalena Kulisz

Magdalena’s narrative is a compelling testament to growth, courage, and the pursuit of empowering others. Born and raised in the pastoral charm of the Polish countryside, her early life was framed by the simplicity and tight-knit community of her rural upbringing, alongside her two sisters and brother. These humble beginnings instilled in her a deep appreciation for nature and the value of community support.

At 23, a young and somewhat shy Magdalena made the life-changing decision to move to the United States. Arriving in New York City, she was immediately engulfed by the sheer scale and relentless pace of the metropolis. The contrast to her quiet life in Poland was stark, and the initial overwhelming sense of being just another face in the crowd of a bustling city was daunting.

Despite these challenges, Magdalena’s resolve to further her education and make a meaningful difference in the world remained unwavering. She enrolled in a New York college, pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus on Management and Information Systems Management. This educational journey was not just about acquiring knowledge; it was about transforming herself, finding her voice, and preparing to make an impact.

It was during this transformative period that Magdalena discovered a profound passion for empowering women. Reflecting on her own experiences as an immigrant, she recognized the need for a platform that celebrated the diverse and rich stories of immigrant women. Along with her partner Sha, she co-founded Miss Immigrant in 2018. This venture was born out of a desire to create a space where immigrant women could showcase their heritage, share their journeys, and find empowerment in a supportive community.

Starting Miss Immigrant was a leap into the unknown for both Magdalena and Sha. The early days were filled with uncertainties and the daunting task of establishing a new kind of pageant from the ground up. However, their dedication and vision struck a chord, and what began as a small initiative in NYC rapidly grew into a beacon of hope and empowerment for many.

Six years later, Miss Immigrant USA has become a recognized local brand, testament to the power of belief, hard work, and the impact of providing a platform for voices that are often unheard. As Miss Immigrant prepares to expand nationally, Magdalena looks back on her journey from a shy 23-year-old in a vast new world to a leader poised to take her mission across the United States. Her story is a vivid illustration of personal transformation and the profound impact of empowering others to rise together.
